From Animal, Sam Bahadur to Griselda: Here Are the Top OTT Releases of This Week to Binge-Watch This Weekend

The Long Weekend is here, and so are our weekly recommendations for the top OTT releases of the week. One of the most talked about films of 2023, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer, is making its OTT debut on Netflix this Republic Day. Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur – released on the same day as Animal – will also have its digital premiere on Zee5 on the same day. For those with entrepreneurial interests, SonyLiv's Shark Tank is back with its third season. Raveen Tandon's revenge drama Karmma Calling will also be released on January 26 on Disney+ Hotstar. While Prabhas starrer Salaar is topping Netflix Top 10 in India this week, Kevin Hart's Lift continues to top the charts globally.

If you were a fan of Narcos, you could give Griselda, the latest project from the same creators, a try. Modern Family's Sofía Vergara will be seen playing the Colombian drug lord in this mini-series.

Prime Video is also having a big release for the week in the form of Expats. Based on the complex tapestry of Hong Kong, it tells the story of four women whose lives become entangled after an encounter sets off a chain of life-altering events.

However, if you are looking for laughs, we recommend Kevin James' stand-up special Irregardless. Some other Netflix releases which you could consider are Masters of the Universe: Revolution, Badland Hunters, and The Greatest Night in Pop.

Apple TV also has a big release in the form of Masters of the Air. It follows the 100th Bomb Group, a B-17 Flying Fortress unit in the Eighth Air Force during World War II – better known as Bloody Hundredth”. Find below the top six releases of the week!

Animal

When: January, 26

Where: Netflix

Animal enjoyed one of the biggest box office collections last year and is set to make its Netflix premiere on Republic Day. It tells the story of Ranvijay, a misogynistic man who identifies himself as an “alpha male” and develops an unhealthy obsession of sorts with his emotionally unavailable father (Anil Kapoor) — a poor chap who was busy making fortunes for his family. The film is loaded with violence, intrusive behaviour, and sexism.

Sam Bahadur

When: January, 26

Where: Zee5

The Vicky Kaushal starrer is a perfect choice if you are looking for a patriotic pick for a Republic Day binge-watch. It tells the real-life story of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, one of India's most celebrated military leaders. Vicky's character is resolute and doesn't shy away from speaking his mind in front of anyone. The film comes from Meghna Gulzar, who directed Talvar (2015) and Raazi (2019) earlier.

Karmma Calling

When: January, 26

Where: Disney+ Hotstar

Raveena Tandon, who was last seen in Netflix's Aranyak, will be seen playing the wife of a billionaire and a glamorous queen of the 1990s who has just one thing in mind – revenge. The show is an adaptation of the popular American series, Revenge. Ruchi Narain, who helmed Netflix's Guilty, directs.

Shark Tank India Season 3

When: Now Streaming

Where: SonyLiv

Sony Liv's Shark Tank has a total of 12 judges or “sharks” this season, who would listen to the contestants trying to pitch in their products. These sharks include Aman Gupta (BoAT), Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com), Vineeta Singh (Sugar Cosmetics), Namita Thapar (Emcure Pharmaceuticals), Deepinder Goyal (Zomato), Ritesh Agarwal (OYO Rooms), Radhika Gupta (Edelweiss Mutual Fund), Amit Jain (CarDekho), Peyush Bansal (Lenskart) Azhar Iqubal (Inshorts), Ronnie Screwvala (UpGrad), and Varun Dua (ACKO). While the first two seasons were quite a hit among the viewers, the third season is also expected to make a mark.

Griselda

When: Streaming

Where: Netflix

The creators of Narcos are back with an intense story of crime with this biological drama. Sophia Vergara – who also serves as the executive producer for the show - essays the role of Griselda Blanco, the Columbian drug lord who created one of the most powerful cartels of all time. It has been dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, French, German, Czech, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, and Polish, among others.

Fortnite Will Return to iOS in Europe as Apple Plans to Allow Third-Party App Stores on iPhone

Fortnite will be making a return to iOS in Europe, Epic Games announced on January 25. The development occurred as Apple is now forced to open iOS to sideloaded apps and third-party app stores to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and is chasing a deadline of March 7. Reportedly, Apple is already working on making changes to its App Store and will likely make a separate version available in Europe. Epic Games could be one of the many app stores that become available in the region, and iPhone users may finally get to play Fortnite after waiting for four years.

In a post, the official handle of Epic Games Store revealed that Fortnite will make a comeback to iOS in Europe this year. It also added that the popular battle royale game will be added via the Epic Games Store for iOS. The post did not mention a launch date.

In a separate post, the company said, “Stay tuned for details as we figure out the regulatory timeline. We'll continue to argue to the courts and regulators that Apple is breaking the law.”

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney also spoke against how Apple implements the DMA regulations, calling it a “malicious compliance.” In a long post, he said the Cupertino-based tech giant is forcing third-party app stores to accept “junk fees on downloads and new Apple taxes on payments they don't process.”

Separately, he also said that a monopoly should not be allowed to decide what companies are allowed to compete with it after another user shared a list of agreements Apple sought from third-party app stores before allowing them on iOS.

Fortnite was removed from the App Store in 2020 after the iPhone maker banned Epic for encouraging users to make third-party in-app payments. Subsequently, Epic Games filed an antitrust lawsuit against Apple. Just last week, the US Supreme Court denied the request to hear the dispute, resulting in a win for the tech giant.

The concern for Epic Games comes from its previous issues with the company, and with Apple still holding oversight into third-party apps, the possibility of the Fortnite-maker getting banned again still exists.

iPhone 16 Pro Max to Feature Larger, Improved Primary Camera Sensor, Tipster Claims

iPhone 16 Pro Max — Apple's purported successor to the iPhone 15 Pro Max that was launched last year — could arrive with more powerful camera capabilities in the coming months, according to details shared by a tipster. The company's top-of-the-line iPhone model is said to be equipped with an improved 48-megapixel primary camera sensor that is larger than the one used on the current (iPhone 15 Pro Max) and previous generation (iPhone 14 Pro Max) models, offering more advanced camera capabilities.

Tipster Digital Chat Station leaked details of the iPhone 16 Pro Max camera via a Weibo post (in Chinese) on Wednesday. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX903 camera sensor with a customised design. It will feature a 14-bit analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) and a digital gain control (DGC) for improved camera performance, according to the tipster.

Apple equipped the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max models with a 1/1.28-inch primary camera sensor, but this year's top-of-the-line model could sport a new, larger 1/1.14-inch sensor. This means that the company's purported flagship iPhone model for 2024 could capture better images in low light scenarios, while offering better dynamic range and bokeh capabilities.

Earlier this month, TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that the iPhone 16 Pro models would be equipped with an upgraded ultra-wide-angle camera, while the tetraprism telephoto camera setup from the iPhone 15 Pro Max will make its way to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro model later this year.

Based on these claims, it appears that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will both feature two upgraded cameras. Meanwhile, Apple's 2025 models — expected to debut as the iPhone 17 series — will be equipped with an upgraded selfie camera, from a 12-megapixel camera with a 5P lens to a 24-megapixel camera with a 6P lens, according to Kuo.

Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin Price Stays Unchanged Despite Small Gain, Profits Return to Crypto Chart

Bitcoin on Thursday, January 25 recorded a miniscule gain of 0.50 percent. Despite this development, Bitcoin did not see a big change in its price. At the time of writing, the value of BTC stood at $39,921 (roughly Rs. 33 lakh). The asset did grow in value by $271 (roughly Rs. 22,527) in the last 24 hours. While this might indicate that bulls are not willing to step in at this price point, it might also be the case that taking the Bitcoin's price further down will not be easy for the bears as well, the CoinSwitch markets desk told Gadgets360.

Solana, Ripple, Cardano, Avalanche, Tron, and Polkadot -- all recorded small gains alongside Bitcoin on Thursday.

They were also joined by Shiba Inu, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Leo, Cosmos, Uniswap, Stellar, Monero, Near Protocol, and Cronos.

“Notably, Solana's SOL and Avalanche's AVAX surpassed expectations, registering gains of about 8.5 percent and 11.5 percent, respectively, spearheading the broader market's upward trajectory,” Rajagopal Menon, Vice President, WazirX told Gadgets360.

Ether failed to join Bitcoin on the profit-making side of the crypto price chart. The SEC managed to delay the approval of BlackRock's spot Ethereum ETF, for now, which has emerged as a contributing factor to the somewhat bearish sentiment hovering over ETH at the moment.

Tether, Binance Coin, USD Coin, Chainlink, and Bitcoin SV joined Ether on the loss-making side of the crypto price chart.

The overall valuation of the crypto market cap rose by 0.38 percent in the last 24 hours. Its valuation presently stands at $1.55 trillion (roughly Rs. 1,28,85,537 crore) as per CoinMarketCap.

“The overall crypto market cap jumped to the $1.55 trillion mark with BTC showing a marginal increase in its value from the previous day. Altcoins are showing a strong positive trajectory but it's not enough to lift the market sentiment. The US Fed should start cutting the interest rates soon to boost market liquidity and spark economic activity across sectors,” Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin told Gadgets360.

Google Pixel 9 Leaked Images Suggest iPhone 15-Like Flat Edges, Triple Rear Cameras

Google Pixel 8 is still new in the market, but early renders of the Pixel 9 have already started emerging on the Web, giving us a look at what the company's next flagship smartphone could look like. The renders show the handset in a blue shade and suggest three cameras on the rear. This would be a significant update for the vanilla model. It looks like Google may have redesigned the rear camera module. The images indicate flat edges on the Pixel 9, similar to what we saw on the Pixel 9 Pro. It also has a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera on the display.

After posting CAD-based renders of the Google Pixel 9 Pro, tipster Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks), has leaked renders and specifications of the Google Pixel 9 in association with 91Mobiles. The renders suggest a compact design for the handset with flattened sides, resembling the latest iPhone 15 series. The phone appears to get a redesigned rear camera module housing three sensors and an LED flash. This would be a huge upgrade for the vanilla Pixel as the previous Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 only got dual rear cameras.

Instead of extending the camera bar across the entire width of the back panel as seen on the current Pixel 8 and older models, the Pixel 9 appears to have an oval-shaped island similar to the Pixel Fold. The camera unit appears to include a new periscope telephoto lens. Specification-wise, this update would bring the regular Pixel handset much more in tune with the Pro model.

The Pixel 9 is seen in a blue colour in the leaked images. The handset could be offered in multiple colour options during the launch. Further, the screen has a centrally located single hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera.

Google's Pixel 9 is said to measure 152.8x71.9x8.5mm. It is expected to sport a 6.1-inch screen, down from the Pixel 8's 6.2-inch screen.

Google is expected to announce the Pixel 9 series in October. The handset could run on Android 15 and the company's in-house Tensor G4 SoC.

Google I/O 2023 saw the search giant repeatedly tell us that it cares about AI, alongside the launch of its first foldable phone and Pixel-branded tablet. This year, the company is going to supercharge its apps, services, and Android operating system with AI technology. We discuss this and more on Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast. OnePlus 12R First Impressions: Almost Flagship

The OnePlus 12R was unveiled alongside the flagship OnePlus 12 at the Smooth Beyond Belief event held in New Delhi, India. While it may not have the exact top-of-the-line specifications as its bigger brother, it is still a powerhouse. The handset has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, a flagship SoC from last year. It looks similar to last year's OnePlus 11R, but that's good. I have used the new OnePlus 12R for some time, and here are my first impressions of it.

The OnePlus 12R feels nice to hold straight out of the box, thanks to the slightly curved back and front. The phone has a metal frame and slim bezels all around the front. The iconic Alert Slider is now in a new position, the original position it was in when OnePlus introduced it with the OnePlus 2. The power and volume buttons are on the right edge. A USB Type-C port, speaker, microphone, and SIM card slot are available at the bottom, and you get an IR blaster, a second mic, and another speaker at the top.oneplus 12r back oneplus-12r-design

The phone is available in iron grey and cool blue colours. We've got the Cool Blue variant to play with, and yes, it does attract fingerprints. The Gray variant will probably deal better with fingerprints as it has a matte finish. However, you can use a case and keep the fingerprints off the beautiful rear panel of the phone.

At the front, the OnePlus 12R features a large 6.78-inch fourth-generation AMOLED LTPO panel that the company calls ProXDR for some reason. It is surrounded by slim bezels all around and also houses an in-display fingerprint scanner. The panel offers adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, up to 1000 Hz touch response rate, Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, and 1,600 nits of brightness (4,500 nits peak). The display is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and you also get a cool feature that lets you use the display even in the rain. It gets an IP64 rating as well.

oneplus 12r cameras oneplus-12r-cameras

OnePlus 12R comes with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary rear camera

Moving to the rear, the phone features a familiar camera module we've seen with the OnePlus 11 and later. It gives the phone a distinct design, and I like it. The module is quite large, though, and the phone is prone to a wobble when laid on its back. You get a triple rear camera setup on the OnePlus 12R. There's a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary sensor with OIS and PDAF, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide unit with 122-degree FoV, and a 2-megapixel Macro sensor. I will thoroughly test the camera on the phone, but with the little time I had with the phone, the primary camera can shoot some really good pictures in daylight. At the front, you get a 16-megapixel sensor. Stay tuned for my full review to find out how the cameras perform.

OnePlus 12R is available in India in two variants. You can choose between 8GB RAM + 128GB storage or 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. And, of course, you get fast LPDDR5X RAM and up to UFS 4.0 storage. Only the 256GB variant gets the faster UFS 4.0 storage. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers Bluetooth 5.3, dual-band Wi-Fi 7, NFC, an IR blaster, and the usual set of GPS options.

oneplus 12r design oneplus-12r-features

OnePlus 12R packs a 5,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging support

The phone has a large 5,500mAh battery and a 100W charger in the box. It does lack wireless charging, though, and this feature has been kept aside for the OnePlus 12. The company also provides a case; the phone comes pre-applied with a screen protector. I also tried out the dual speakers on the phone, and I must say that they can get quite loud and also offer some bass. The software on the phone is also quite good, and I did not find a lot of bloatware, but I will dig deeper in the coming days. It runs Android 14-based OxygenOS 14.0 and has plenty of OnePlus-exclusive customisation options. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be cool AI features present on phones such as the Google Pixel 7a and the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S24.

I was thoroughly impressed by the OnePlus 12R in my brief time with it. The phone has all the features that make it almost a flagship, and at a starting price of Rs. 39,999, it seems to me like an excellent deal. However, I will have to spend more time with it to reach conclusions. To find out if you should get the OnePlus 12R over some of its competition, stay tuned for my full review.

Realme 12 Pro+ Key Specifications Leaked Ahead of Launch; To Get a 64-Megapixel Periscope Camera

Realme 12 5G series is just days away from being launched in India. The Chinese smartphone maker has confirmed that the series, which will likely include two phones — the Realme 12 Pro and the Realme 12 Pro+ — will be launched on January 29 at 12 pm IST. In the previous weeks, some of the specifications of the smartphones were leaked online, and now, a picture of a retail box packaging has surfaced, which reveals more details about the Realme 12 Pro+. Reportedly, the handset might get a 64-megapixel periscope zoom lens.

The leaked image (via GSMArena) shows what appears to be the back of the Realme 12 Pro+ retail box, with the name of the device mentioned on top. The specifications mentioned on the box highlight a periscope portrait camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a Sony IMX890 OIS camera, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chipset, and a curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Realme 12 Pro+ specifications

The new information corroborates earlier leaks and the specifications shared by the company. The handset is expected to feature a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED FHD+ display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is also rumoured to feature in-display fingerprint sensors. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset could be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, as per the leaked image.

Official images of the Realme 12 Pro+ have revealed that the smartphone will get a triple rear camera setup in a circular module. The two cameras in the setup are expected to be a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary shooter with OIS and a 64-megapixel periscope lens with 120x zoom capabilities. The details of the third camera are not known. However, it is likely to be an ultrawide lens.

The company has also revealed that the Realme 12 Pro+ could be available in Navigator Beige and Submarine Blue colourways. The handset gets a golden metallic dial for the camera module, a centrally placed metallic band stretching from the phone's top to the bottom, and a leather-like finish.

The Realme 12 Pro+ is tipped to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging support. It is expected to come out of the box with Android 14-based Realme UI 5.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Design Renders Leak; Suggests Flat Edges, Redesigned Camera Bar

Google Pixel 8 series with the vanilla Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro was launched in October at the ‘Made by Google' event. Now, the first Pixel 9 Pro renders have emerged online offering a glimpse into the possible design of Google's next flagship. The renders suggest a design deviation from the past few generations. The Pixel 9 Pro seems to have flat edges similar to what we've seen on iPhone models and a redesigned camera bar.

Prominent leaker Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks), in collaboration with MySmartPrice, has shared alleged renders and specifications of Google Pixel 9 Pro. The handset appears to have flat edges resembling iPhone models. The camera bar seems to have undergone a design change in the upcoming handset as it does not appear integrated into the frame. The pill-shaped camera island is not connected to the edges of the device, deviating from the previous design language of the Pixel Pro models. It looks more like the camera bar from the Pixel Fold. Three cameras are placed side-by-side and covered by glass. Google's temperature sensor appears to make a return with the upcoming phone.

The front of the Pixel 9 Pro draws similarities to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 series, with a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera and narrow bezels. The power button and volume rockers are seen on the right side of the phone. The left side seems to have antenna markings. The USB Type-C port, speaker grille, and SIM card tray are seen to be housed at the bottom of the handset. Google seems to have changed the arrangement of the SIM card tray. In the Pixel 8 Pro, the SIM tray is placed on the left spine. The mmWave antenna cover and a microphone appear to be present on the top of the phone.

Google's upcoming Pixel 9 Pro is said to feature a 6.5-inch display and could measure 162.7x76.6x8.5mm. By comparison, the Pixel 8 Pro measures 162.6x76.5x8.8mm and features a 6.7-inch display.

Google is expected to announce the Pixel 9 series in October. The handset could ship with Android 15 and the company's in-house Tensor G4 SoC. We can expect more leaks in the coming days.

Crypto Price Today: Bitcoin Falls Below $40,000, Small Gains Seen by Tether, USD Coin

Bitcoin on Tuesday, January 23 reflected a loss of 3.63 percent. With this, the value of Bitcoin has dropped to $39,820 (roughly Rs. 33 lakh). This is the first time in the last two months that Bitcoin has dropped below the mark of $40,000 (roughly Rs. 33 lakh). In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin's price reduced by $1,175 (roughly Rs. 97, 635). Most cryptocurrencies followed Bitcoin on the loss-making side of the price chart.

Ether clocked a loss of 4.04 percent on Tuesday. At the time of writing, ETH was trading at $2,336 (roughly Rs. 1.94 lakh). Ether price, in the last 24 hours, reduced by $81 (roughly Rs. 6,730).

“BTC slumped below the $40,000 (roughly Rs. 33 lakh) mark for the first time in 50 days as the Bulls failed to hold the support line. New investors who had put a big amount of money during the spot ETF announcement are now sitting at almost a 25 percent loss. Altcoins too slumped deep red during the late hours of US Monday trading hours as fears of ETH dropping below the $2,000 (roughly Rs. 1.66 lakh) mark rose in the markets again. The trigger of this was the Ethereum Foundation selling off 700 ETH for around $2,400 (roughly Rs. 1.99 lakh) per ETH. Usually, such sell-offs by token foundations mark a local top which could very well be the case before the Bitcoin halving trigger,” the CoinSwitch markets desk told Gadgets360.

Cardano, Solana, Ripple, Avalanche, Tron, and Polkadot -- all registered price dips on Tuesday.

Other loss-making altcoins include Leo, Uniswap, Litecoin, Leo, Iota, and Qtum.

The overall market cap dropped by 2.13 percent in the last 24 hours. At the time of writing, the crypto market valuation stands at $1.58 trillion (roughly Rs. 1,31,31,214 crore), as per CoinMarketCap.

Only a small number of cryptocurrencies managed to reel-in profits on Tuesday. These include Tether, USD Coin, Iota, Cartesi, and Bitcoin Hedge.

“The crypto market is witnessing a healthy pullback after a massive bull run. We may see a more stable Bitcoin as ETFs grow their AUM and drive mass adoption of the world's largest digital asset. Top Trader Henrik Zeberg shared a new Bitcoin price prediction of $120,000 (roughly Rs. 99.7 lakh) but we will have to wait and see how the market moves in the coming weeks,” Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin told Gadgets360.

League of Legends, Valorant Developer Riot Games to Lay Off About 11 Percent of Staff

Tencent Holdings' Riot Games plans to lay off 530 employees, or about 11 percent of its staff globally, the online gaming company said on Monday in a blog that included a letter to employees from CEO Dylan Jadeja.

Los Angeles-based Riot, whose popular titles include League of Legends, said teams outside of core development will see the largest impact from layoffs.

Digital games publishers are struggling to grow, as audience hold off on buying expensive titles or stick to fewer games amid high inflation. Early last year, Electronic Arts cut 6 percent staff and gave up some office space.

"Today, we're a company without a sharp enough focus, and simply put, we have too many things underway. Some of the significant investments we've made aren't paying off the way we expected them to. Our costs have grown to the point where they're unsustainable," Jadeja said in the letter.

The changes will allow Riot to focus on its portfolio of live games League of Legends, Valorant, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift, according to a separate blog from Jadeja and co-founder Marc Merrill. The blog claimed that the studio had doubled in headcount over the past few years and long-term sustainability required focusing on high-impact projects. "This isn't to appease shareholders or to hit a quarterly earnings number—it's a necessity," the blog said.

Riot will stop new game development under "Riot Forge", and drop some staff and features in Legends of Runeterra.

Tencent, which acquired a majority stake in Riot Games in 2011, also holds stake in fellow US video game developer Epic Games.

Apple Watch Series 9, Watch Ultra 2 Lose Blood Oxygen Feature to Dodge US Ban

Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 will no longer offer the company's blood oxygen feature on both models in the US, according to the company. In order to dodge a looming US ban on its latest smartwatches, Apple has disabled the pulse oximetry feature on its smartwatches, which infringe on patents held by medical technology firm Masimo. As a result, customers who purchase these two models in the US will not be able to measure their blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) levels.

Masimo CEO Joe Kiani told Bloomberg that Apple had not reached out to the medical technology firm to discuss a settlement amid the ongoing legal dispute between both firms. Apple has appealed a ruling of the International Trade Commission (ITC) in October that said the company infringed on Masimo's patents related to pulse oximetry, a feature that was first introduced with the Apple Watch Series 6.

Earlier this week, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that Apple could not sell both models with the blood oxygen feature, while refusing to pause the import ban during the appeal period. As anticipated, Apple has disabled the blood oxygen sensor on its Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 that are sold in the US, to dodge the ban.

This means that both smartwatches in the US will still ship with a blood oxygen sensor, but its functionality will be disabled. The feature will also be disabled via the Watch app. Meanwhile, Apple has also updated its product pages for the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 in the US with a banner that informs customers the blood oxygen feature isn't available on those models, while it has also disappeared from the company's feature comparison charts for different models.

It is important to note that the restrictions on the blood oxygen feature only applies to customers in the US, which means that the feature will work on the same models sold in other countries, including India. If Apple and Masimo resolve the patent dispute in the future, the iPhone make should be able to activate the functionality once more, as the company has merely deactivated the hardware on these models.

Microsoft Employee Emails Hacked by Russia-Linked 'Midnight Blizzard' Group, Company Says

Microsoft said a Russian-linked hacking group attacked its corporate systems, getting into a “small number” of email accounts, including those of senior leadership and employees who work in cybersecurity and legal. The company said it's acting immediately to fix older systems, which will probably cause some disruption.

The hacking group doesn't appear to have accessed customers' systems or Microsoft servers that run outward-facing products, the software giant said Friday in a blog post. Microsoft also has no evidence the group, named Midnight Blizzard, got into source code or artificial intelligence systems.

“We will act immediately to apply our current security standards to Microsoft-owned legacy systems and internal business processes, even when these changes might cause disruption to existing business processes,” the company said. “This will likely cause some level of disruption.”

The group that Microsoft deemed responsible, also known as “Nobelium,” is a sophisticated nation-state hacking group that the US government has tied to Russia. The same group previously breached SolarWinds, a US federal contractor, as part of a massive cyber-espionage effort against US federal agencies.

The company said hackers beginning in November used a “password spray” attack to infiltrate its systems. That technique, sometimes known as a “brute force attack,” typically involves outsiders quickly trying multiple passwords on specific user names in order to try breaching targeted corporate accounts.

In this case, in addition to the accessed accounts, the attackers also took emails and attached documents. Microsoft said it detected the hack on January 12, adding that the company is still notifying employees whose emails were accessed.

Eric Goldstein, executive assistant director for cybersecurity at the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, said government officials are “closely coordinating with Microsoft to gain additional insights into this incident and understand impacts so we can help protect other potential victims.”

Microsoft technology has frequently been the target of major hacking campaigns.

The US Cyber Safety Review Board, which reports to the Department of Homeland Security, is already assessing a 2023 intrusion against Microsoft Exchange Online that the company attributed to China-linked hackers. That breach enabled the hack of senior US officials' email accounts and has prompted growing concerns about cloud computing security. Microsoft said in September it identified five different errors in how its systems that have “been corrected.”

In an interview with Bloomberg in 2023 following that breach, Jen Easterly, director of the agency that manages the board, suggested that Microsoft should “recapture the ethos” of what Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates called “trustworthy computing” in 2002, when he instructed employees to focus on security over adding new features.

“I absolutely positively think they have to focus on ensuring their products are both secure by default and secure by design, and we are going to continue to work with them to urge them to do that,” Easterly said of Microsoft.

In November, Microsoft said it was overhauling how it protects its software and systems after a series of high-profile hacks. Now the company said it must pick up the pace on changes, particularly to older systems and products.

“For Microsoft, this incident has highlighted the urgent need to move even faster,” the company said Friday.

Apple Vision Pro specifications

The first spatial computer from Apple is powered by an M2 chip paired with a second R1 chip — that is based on the same M-series processor — to handle data from the Vision Pro's many sensors with a 12ms response time and 256GB/s bandwidth. The Vision Pro is powered by an external battery pack that is connected via a cable. Apple doesn't typically reveal the capacities of its batteries, so we'll have to wait for a teardown video to find out these details. The battery is claimed to power the headset for up to two hours, and the device actually ships with a charger in the box, unlike many other Apple products, including the iPhone. Depending on your configuration, the Vision Pro can weigh up to 650g and the battery pack weighs 353g, according to the company.

Its value, at the time of writing, stood at $41,005 (roughly Rs. 34.09 lakh). This is Bitcoin's lowest value in the recent weeks. Over the last 24 hours, the value of Bitcoin has reduced by $1,540 (roughly Rs. 1.28 lakh). Market analysts have also acknowledged that the crypto market is witnessing an unexpected downward trend.

“Bitcoin faces selling pressure due to heavy outflows from Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) to new spot ETF issuers. For example, Blackrock's Bitcoin ETF has accumulated a billion-dollar worth of Bitcoin in just one week, which means there is a heavy outflow of Bitcoin to such regulated ETFs. We can expect the Bitcoin price to rise once this transition cools down and investors are done with profit booking,” Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin told Gadgets360.

Ether registered a value drop of 2.95 percent on Friday. At the time of writing, Ether was trading at the price point of $2,456 (roughly Rs. 2.04 lakh). In the last 24 hours, the value of ETH dropped by $66 (roughly Rs. 5,487).

Solana, Ripple, Uniswap, Tether, and Cardano -- all emerged on the loss-making side of the crypto chart.

Avalanche, Dogecoin, Tron, and Polkadot alongside USD Coin, Leo, Near Protocol, and Iota also registered losses.

“The top 30 cryptos by market cap are currently trading in the red. We can expect some volatility in BTC's price for some time. However, the ETF inflows and Assets under Management (AUM) continue to see healthy numbers. The newly launched spot BTC ETFs already have nearly $30 billion (roughly Rs. 2,49,412 crore) in AUM as compared to $11 billion (roughly Rs. 91,451 crore) for Silver ETFs,” Parth Chaturvedi, Investments Lead, CoinSwitch Ventures told Gadgets360.

The overall market capitalisation of the crypto sector tumbled by 3.25 percent in the last 24 hours. As of Friday, the valuation of the sector stands at $1.62 trillion (roughly Rs. 1,34,68,056 crore), as per CoinMarketCap.

A small number of cryptocurrencies managed to record miniscule gains on Friday. These include -- Iota, Braintrust, Binance USD, and Dogefi.

In a major DeFi development, CoinMarketCap data suggests that dYdX (-8.5 percent) recently topped Uniswap's markets to become the largest DEX by daily trading volume. The decentralised exchange has recently migrated from Ethereum to Cosmos and saw a volume of $757 million (roughly Rs. 6,293 crore) of volume over 24 hours.
